Llanddwyn
Island and the Santes Dwynwen church are a magnet for romantics with fifty to sixty
thousand visitors a year. For many years the ancient church has looked like a
bomb site, with rubble filling the insides of fallen walls and arches. But now
it has been excavated and the circular cemetery wall unearthed, with work
underway to restore the main arch and other featurues.
If you’ve
been before, it’s time to take a second look. If you’ve not yet been, 25th
January is the most romantic date to visit, on Santes Dwynwen’s Day.
